Baku City Tour starts with Baku National Boulevard which is the favorite resting place of the Baku residents and capital guests, stretching for a long way along the seashore. The Baku boulevard is picturesquely planted with chestnut, plane trees, and palms. The boulevard abounds with modern cafés and restaurants, cinema theatres and fountains. From there, You will be taken by funicular railway to Highland Park (Dagustu Park), which commands a breathtaking panorama of Baku. From the boulevard You can also make a real sea-voyage by pleasure-boat along the Baku Bay. During such boat tour a guide will put up the tourists with interesting facts and legends from the Caspian Sea history.

As far as the historical part of the city concerns it is located in another part of the capital and is called the “Baku Acropolis”. Its other name is Icheri Sheher (literally “Inner Town”). In actual fact, it is a historical and architectural reserve. The Icheri Sheher is often referred as a fortress, because this island of history is separated from the modern city by thick walls. The Old City territory includes the Shirvanshah Palace, Synyk kala minaret, Maiden Tower, “ Bayil Stones”, Seyid Yahya Bakuvi mausoleum, caravanserais – the Multani and Bukharian caravanserai, Mollahana, numerous mosques – Muhammad ibn Abu-Bakr, Mirza Akmad, Molla Ahmad, Juma, Lezgi, mosque-madrassahs, bath-houses, Baku Khans’ House and also numerous rich residences of the ХIХ century.

After the Old City Baku, You will visit the Museums such as: Museum of Literature, Museum of History, Museum of Carpets, Museum of Art. Although You will visit the most modern parts of Baku City where mostly Baku Citizens have a walk with their friends and families.

Places to see in "BAKU CITY TOUR":

  • Icheri Sheher (literally “Inner Town”) –  the historical and architectural reserve includes the Shirvanshah Palace, Synyk kala minaret, Maiden Tower, Medieval Market Square, Icheri Sheher Archaeological Museum, Seyid Yahya Bakuvi mausoleum, caravanserais, Mollahana, numerous mosques, madrassahs, bath-houses, Baku Khans’ House, also numerous rich residences of the ХIХ century.

  • Miniature Books Museum, the gigantic collection of teeny and tiny books

  • Highland Park (Dagustu Park), which commands a breathtaking panorama of Baku.

  • Flame towers - Completed in 2012, this trio of sinuous blue-glass skyscrapers forms contemporary Baku’s architectural signature. The design was conceived as a set of flames, driven from the ground up one of the main hills of Baku. Fire symbolizes energy and eternity, and also goes back to the ancient worship of this element.

  • Şahidlər Xiyabani - The most notable feature of the park that stretches south from the Flame Towers is a sombre row of grave-memorials – Bakuvian victims of the Red Army’s 1990 attack along with early martyrs of the Karabakh conflict. The viewpoint beside the eternal flame offers splendid panoramas across the bay

  • Baku National Boulevard, the 2nd longest boulevard in the world, which is the favorite resting place of the Baku residents and capital guests, stretching for a long way along the seashore.

  • Carpet Museum - Displaying and explaining a superb collection of Azerbaijani rugs, this 2014 museum building is itself designed like a stylised roll of carpet.

  • Fountains Square - Endlessly popular with strollers, this leafy piazza forms Central Baku’s natural focus. The fountains for which it is named include one topped by shiny silvered spheres giving fish-eye reflections of the trees and stone facades. And the beautiful statue-inlayed facade of the Nizami Literature Museum

Provided us with lots of information. Good English speakers - not that many in Baku elsewhere. Situated near Double Gate - easy to find.

This past spring I was solo traveling in Azerbaijan and decided to take two solo tours with TES - one to the Gobustan mud volcanoes and the fire temple, and the other deep into the High Caucasus to visit tiny, hidden villages near the Russian border. TES made arranging the tour quite easily, and their convenient office right in the middle of the Old City of Baku helped with that. Both tours were highly interesting, especially the tour deep into the mountains - visiting the Jewish quarter in Quba was especially interesting to me, as was visiting the small village of an ethnic minority. The drive both ways was somewhat punishing, but generally worth it - I actually wish I had more time to take a longer tour. While these day tours were worth the time, I would definitely recommend people with a few extra days to take longer tours. My guide was an intelligent, if somewhat eccentric Azeri man. He certainly made the effort to make our hours in the car interesting thanks to a stream of constant…
